Development Update #40 – We Are Very Font Of This One

What To Do

Hey everyone! It’s time for the weekly development update, and Elvis is here to start us off.

Our featured image is taken from the new opening cutscene of On Rusty Trails, where our main man errr robot is baffled, staring at the ruins of his once beautiful home. Stamm has been working on the cutscene, adding more description boxes, which had already used for Forkride Grilltime Sloth and liked them so much that they made it into ORT.

Poor Elvis

Poor Elvis

If he can keep it up, Stamm is planning to have two of these panels ready every week, so you can look forward to more illustration goodness. But Stamm is a man of many talents. You see, when you are at a crossroads in your life (or production), you have to make hard decisions and face facts. It is these moments when heroes are born and new fonts are created. They call him the Letter Man!

The New Font

The New Font

Countless hours, days and nights, Stamm toiled away in the letter mines of Neukölln, digging up these raw diamonds, to forge a font that is worthy of a game like On Rusty Trails. And I guess, you can say, Tobi was his character witness.

I will see myself out now.

Burning Bushes?

Burning Bushes?

Speaking of Tobi, apparently he came up with a new subtitle for the game, because of reasons. Burning Bushes? What’s that got to do with anything? I am not really sure, if Stamm was joking when he sent me this, but I will investigate further. Murmel is on the case.

If your’re wondering what Tobi is up to, apart from making up weird subtitles, he sent me a picture of the new cornerstone of the Berlin office

The Couch

The Couch

A friendly donation from another company in the building, this new couch will provide us with a nice place to ponder, and enjoy the view outside the window. For those moments, when the roof deck is just too far away and sitting and thinking just sounds better than walking and thinking.

Other than that, Tobi says he had to do much background work (work in the background, not working on backgrounds for the game) to deliver enough material to Bao, who helps out with animations, and Stamm. To me, that sounds exactly like something someone with a new couch would say… :p

That’s it for this week. Make sure to check back on the blog next Sunday!
