Hey and hello, everyone!

It is time for the weekly development update (although we are technically already in the next week). The reason for that is that we are trying to figure out, if the Facebook algorithm will bring us more views on different days/times of the week. So we’re pushing this to Monday.

This update will only feature Tobi and therefore only Blown Away, because that is what he has been working on. Stamm is AWOL and doesn’t have anything good to show this week.

Our featured image shows my main man Hendrik in a new world, the world of locked away secrets. No one really knows, what’s in those chests, and Tobi did not disclose the secret. I personally hope, it’s the release date of Half Life 3, but I’m not entirely sure, if Tobi is in on that.

Boxes

As always, when introducing a new world, we’ll have a sequence from the smallest element to the full level. These are the single boxes, the levels are comprised of.

Level Elements

This one is an overview of elements for different layers of the levels. I am just noticing now that the notes on here are not right. Everything that says “BG” should actually say “MG”. MG meaning middleground, BG meaning background. Since you weren’t not born yesterday, you’ll have figured out by now that FG is foreground and that wraps up the screenshot.

Level Composition

We haven’t had one like this before. It’s a profile view of a level and has all the elements from above and more. Starting from the background, which is rightly named background in here, over to the middleground. Next is the gameplay area, which is where Hendrik can actually walk and do his thing. Then comes an effect layer, which has fog and wind and all these things that make the level livelier. And right in the front is the foreground. All these different levels give the game a “3D-feel”, although it is 2D.
