DevLog 39 - Drunk Sailor
It’s all about not losing focus!
Hello, I’m Tobi. Every week (mostly) I write about the development process of our game, Paul. Paul combines turn-based combat, dungeon crawling, and exploration in a hand-crafted world. This DevLog is a way for me to reflect on and document the different stages of development, but also for anyone interested in seeing how the world of Paul gradually takes shape.
I’m still deep in the code, but making good progress. I’ve also added controller and keyboard support. I’m slowly getting to the point where I can really start focusing on level design again.
There’s been some work on the lighting system as well.
There have also been some improvements to the AI, so hopefully the enemies have gotten a little smarter too.
There are just so many things going on at once. Right now, I’m jumping from task to task. Whenever something pops up, whether it’s an animation, UI polish, sound, or whatever, I immediately dive into it. It would probably be a lot better to actually make a list, prioritize everything, and then work through it one thing at a time, instead of stumbling through production like a slightly drunk sailor with the attention span of a goldfish.
Now that I’m writing this, I’m thinking I should probably make next week all about one thing: making a plan and creating this list.
That’s it from me for now.
Ahoi,
Tobi
