DevLog 17 - Greetings from the Depths

It’s half past six in the morning, there’s a cup of coffee to my right, and once again I’m taking a moment to write down what happened last week in Paul’s world.

First off, I implemented quite a bit of feedback that came out of the first playtest (the current version 0.0.2 is available to play and comment on over on Itch.io). As part of that, I also gave Paul’s capsule image a bit of a refresh (hope you like it!). Then it was straight back to the drawing tablet and into the depths of the Nautilus.

During his expedition, Paul visits this very submarine, meets Captain Nemo and Madame Curie, and (spoiler alert) discovers why everything around him only moves when he moves.

I had already blocked out the Nautilus some time ago, and now I’ve finally found the time for a second iteration on the visuals. After spending quite a while deep in the world of game code, my drawing hand had gotten a bit rusty, but I’m slowly getting back into it. Nemo’s ship is gradually taking shape, and I’m really looking forward to animating the inhabitants of the Nautilus.
